Why is Con Edison Offering This Program?

These neighborhoods are seeing a huge increase in demand for electricity. Instead of building costly new infrastructure to meet this demand, Con Edison is helping customers in these areas to use less energy so we can keep everyone’s service more reliable.
In 2018, about 450 buildings took advantage of the program—at no cost to the customer—saving each building an average of $4,300 in electric costs each year!

Why Should My Building Upgrade To LED Lighting?

It's a WIN-WIN for your building and for the Con Edison electric system:
  • LED's can last up to 15 years
  • LED's use up to 50% less energy and produce less heat than incandescents and CFLs
  • LED's give off a warm light that makes your building look great
LED lighting will save you and your residents money, and help Con Edison keep its system more reliable.

Which Areas of My MultiFamily Building Can Get a FREE LED Lighting Upgrade?

This program covers the costs 100% for lighting upgrades for any 5+ Unit Eligible Multifamily Building's Common Areas. These include exterior areas, parking garages, courtyards, resident hallways, lobby areas, storage rooms, basement areas, pool facilities, gym/fitness rooms, mailrooms, mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, basement hallways, refuse rooms, bicycle storage rooms, laundry rooms and any other room/area that is in a common area.

Is It REALLY Free, What's the Catch?

There is no catch! If your building qualifies you as the building owner, manager or co-op/condo board will not have to spend a penny during any point of the process. This is not a rebate program where you have to pay up front and wait for a rebate from Con Edison.

Con Edison's Green Team recommended that we contact Dominick Posillico of Consolidate Energy to evaluate the potential current rebate and future cost savings by switching to energy-efficient bulbs. After evaluating our facilities' lighting needs, Mr. Posillico presented us with a report that detailed the current rebate and potential savings, but Mr. Posillico's involvement was not limited to the presentation. He made himself available to guide us through the enrollment process, brought us samples of the bulbs that would best suit our environment, and assisted us in submitting the final documentation to Con Edison. The rebate promised by Con Edison arrived within the timeframe promised by Mr. Posillico. I would recommend anyone who is looking to save on their electricity costs who hasn't already invested in the current energy saving lighting technology to contact Mr. Posillico for an evaluation of potential savings.
